Works of Art

Artistoric bridges the gap between museums and art galleries. Our collection is committed to art that is both beautiful and historically significant. Informed by a research-based approach adopted by museums, we seek out objects with historical value and elucidate their role in the history of art, and in a greater history of the world. Instead of catering to what art collections traditionally are, our research-based approach to art transforms art collections into what they can be.

Curations

Artistoric Curations are a new way to imagine collecting art. Our periodic online exhibitions select objects from the Artistoric Collection to explore shared themes. Artistoric Curations offer collections an opportunity to make meaningful historical statements.

Majolica Pottery
The Majolica Movement

Wondrous, whimsical, and colorful, majolica was a ceramic sensation in the latter half of the 19th century. Over 100 years later, majolica still captures the imagination no less than it did at its introduction. The Majolica Movement explores traditions, historical backgrounds, and social, cultural, and economic contexts to understand majolica’s enduring ability to fit within an endless variety of design movements and appeal to ever-evolving consumer tastes. An in-depth look into the medium’s fusion of various stylistic elements and movements will reveal that majolica might have in fact been a movement in its own right.
