Yellow-ground topographical beaker

Circa 1800

Porcelain with enamels and gilding

3 1/2 in. Dm x 3 3/4 in. H

$2,775.00

The Worcester Porcelain Factory was responsible for some of England’s best and earliest porcelain, first creating a porcelain recipe around 1750. This yellow beaker was created during the Flight and Barr period of the factory (1792-1804) which, under the direction of Joseph Flight and Martin Barr, saw the development of a harder paste porcelain and a new glaze that more resembled fine French porcelain. French stylistic influence can indeed be observed in this Flight and Barr Worcester beaker: Neoclassical Empire gilded details frame a vaguely Rococo bucolic scene that recollects Marie Antoinette’s Petit Hameau.
