Set of Four Armorial Dessert Dishes

ca. 1820

Worcester Porcelain Factory, Flight, Barr & Barr (English)

Hand-painted porcelain with gilding

7 1/2 in. Dm x 1/2 in. H (19 cm Dm x 1.3 cm H)

The dishes, made circa 1820 by the Worcester Porcelain Factory during the Flight, Barr & Barr period, are boldly painted in iron red, soft pink, and deep blue, accompanied by beautiful gilding details. A lovely accent of gold encircles the gadrooned borders. The central armorial features the crest of the Colegrave family of Cann Hall, Essex and Little Ellingham, Norfolk. It reads Fidei Constans, “steadfast in faith,” with an azure ostrich feather bisected by two crossed silver arrows and banded by a red mural crown.
