The green and gold colorway of William Moorcroft’s Florian wares was his most popular, with rich olive green, goldenrod, and cobalt glazes accented with intricately piped white slip. Moorcroft’s Florian wares met with great success almost immediately after their introduction in 1903, winning him a gold medal at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis. Indeed, a pitcher similar to this one was exhibited at the International Exhibition, praised as being “distinguished by refinement in design and colour.”
