ARTificial Intelligence

A digital collaborative art game with Artistoric

As a 21st-century art gallery, Artistoric is always looking for ways to engage with new technology. We recently discovered the amazing project Midjourney, an AI image generation tool that creates completely unique images as a result of collaboration between humans and machines.

The following is an admittedly simple overview of how this program works (the technology is way above our heads!). The project is hosted on an invitation-only Discord server, where members input a query of keywords and guidelines into the image generation tool. The program processes these words and generates images from a compilation of similar images across the Web. Users can select from four generated images and refine their query if necessary; the latter contributes to the machine’s learning to improve future results.

With Midjourney, the user process is deceptively simple, the technology is revolutionary, and the creative boundaries are limitless. The project results in some incredible works of art “drawn” with AI.
